CANCELED: Memorial Day Parade
The Memorial Day Parade has been canceled. Apologies for the lack of e-mail on the subject; the Little League site hasn't allowed us to e-mail all weekend.
Thanks to Amy Luett and Tina Maddison for organizing the vehicle and decorations. Please see either of them to donate some money to defray the costs.

From the Merritt: Exit 42. Go south off the exit (a right coming from the north, and a left coming from the south). Bear right at the fork and proceed to the first traffic light. Go left onto North Compo Road and proceed about 1.2 miles to Rt 1. Continue across Rt 1 to South Compo Rd for another 2.2 miles past Longshore Park to the stop sign in front of the Minuteman statue. Turn right onto Compo Beach Rd and wrap around the coast to the entrance to Compo Beach on the right.
Route 95 Northbound: Exit 17. Cross Rt 33 onto Rt 136 (Park St/Charles St) until it ends, turn left onto Riverside Ave, and then take the first right onto Bridge St. Follow Bridge St until the first four-way stop sign. Turn right onto South Compo Rd and proceed about .8 miles past Longshore Park to the stop sign in front of the Minuteman statue. Turn right onto Compo Beach Rd and wrap around the coast to the entrance to Compo Beach on the right.

Turn left onto Greens Farms Rd and proceed about 1.7 miles to the second four-way stop sign. Next up: Practice, May 25
Thanks to everyone for coming to Saturday's game against the Sun Devils. It was great to see everybody there, and we especially thank our volunteer coaches, as well as our snack bringers. It's our understanding that Alexander's mom has volunteered to bring snacks to next Saturday's game.
A number of parents have been standing next to their Elis in the field, especially in the outfield. We would like to encourage this. We know it's easy for 5- and 6-year-olds to lose focus when they're farther away from the action, so it's great to have parents out there helping to remind the players where to stand, and to stay alert.

Next up: Game 4/TEAM and INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS
The Elis will play the Sun Devils on Saturday, May 21, at 1 p.m. The game will be held at the Hillspoint South Field. Directions follow.
Please have your son at the field by 12:30. This allows us a little extra practice time. I hope you agree that the guys are showing results of that practice. Last week, the coaches set a goal of making all three outs on defense to end an inning; all previous opponent at-bats had ended upon their scoring four runs. The Elis responded with their first three-out inning of the season.
We've also been asked by the photographer WLL's contracted with to have the players there by 12:30. It's our understanding that he will be taking both team and individual photos befoer the game.

Softball Field between Baseball and Turf Field
From the Merritt: Exit 42. Go south off the exit (a right coming from the north, and a left coming from the south). Go straight at the flashing red light until you reach the stop sign. Turn left onto Cross Hwy and proceed another mile or so until you reach a four-way stop sign (intersection of North Ave). Continue straight another 100 yards or so and turn right when you see the sign for the fields.
From I-95: Exit 18. Head north onto the Sherwood Island Extension (away from Sherwood Island). Go approximately 1 mile to the traffic light at the intersection of Route 1 (the Post Rd). Take a right and stay on the Post Rd for 1 light. Take a left onto Cedar Rd (just before Starbucks). Go up the hill to the stop sign. Take a right onto Long Lots Rd. Go about ½ mile to a four-way stop sign. Turn left around the island onto North Ave and continue driving until you reach another four-way stop sign (you will pass Staples High School on the right). Take a right onto Cross Hwy. About 100 yards or so on the right turn into Wakeman fields. The softball field is the 2nd field on the left.
